Women online: Intersection of Gender, Tech and Sexism
Women online: Intersection of Gender, Tech and Sexism from Women's Health East examines the prevalence and impacts of cyber violence against women and girls, and presents recommendations for action to prevent this violence.
The paper describes the key drivers of violence and how these interact with the online environment to create ‘cyber violence’. It identifies the various online spaces which make up today’s online environment and explores the content and actions facilitated by online spaces which are harmful to women and girls.
The paper also explores the ways in which these online spaces can provide a valuable space as advocacy for women's rights, and presents recommendations for change at individual, organisational and societal levels to prevent cyber violence against women and girls.
