Community Leaders United By Sport (CLUBS)

Community Leaders United by Sport (CLUBS) is a gender equality initiative that is being delivered within 10 sporting clubs in the City of Monash focusing on the development of culture change champions (Club Champions).

The objectives of the program are:

  • Challenging gender stereotypes and roles to create environments where everyone feels equal and respected;
  • Increasing women’s participation in all aspects of sport and recreation including decision-making

The Club champions participated in focus groups which identified the key strengths and challenges to achieving gender equality in their sports clubs. The Club champions have been participating in tailored leadership training to build their capacity to become leaders and make changes in their clubs to create respectful and inclusive environments.

This project will be completed in June, 2019.
