Gender Equality & Preventing Family Violence

Men as Caregivers poster series

The 'Men as Caregivers' poster series was developed by the Yarra Ranges Council and EDVOS in conjunction with a reference group of local Yarra Ranges dads and carers who are passionate about gender equity. These men contributed to the overall concept, poster design, messaging, and are featured within the series.

This project aims to:

  • Celebrate fathers and men in care giving roles.
  • Promote the positive link between shared caring responsibilities within the family and men’s social and emotional health and identity.
  • Builds awareness and acceptance of the attitudes and behaviours which lead to respectful relationships, prevention of violence against women and benefits for family and community.

The project includes posters and social media tiles, including a Resource Toolkit to help you share these resources.

These resources are freely available for anyone to use via social media or within workplaces, schools, early years settings, etc.

Hard copies of these posters have been shared across the Yarra Ranges (including with all early years centres and MCH) and can be provided upon request.

This project follows on from the ‘You can’t be what you can’t see’ poster series which included Yarra Ranges residents undertaking diverse career and recreation roles. These images and the embedded messages promote to young children in early years services and their families that they can aspire and achieve a range of work and life choices, regardless of their gender. The posters are used extensively throughout early childhood centres and schools within the Yarra Ranges and are also available on the Level Playground website (under resources > posters).
