Persistent and outdated gender roles and stereotypes result in girls and boys being provided with different information about money which can affect the way they relate to money and finances.

Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC) worked in partnership with the Outer East PCP, Knox Council, Maroondah Council, Yarra Ranges Council and Women’s Health East to develop a program for women in Melbourne’s East to build their financial literacy and confidence.

The My Money series ran during September and October 2021 offering free financial workshops for women of all ages. The sessions were delivered online by qualified Financial Counsellors from ECLC and topics included:

  • Budget and Bills - Tipsheet
  • Superannuation and Insurance - Tipsheet
  • Managing Debt - Tipsheet
  • Avoiding Scams
  • Planning your Future.
