Healesville Community Garden
The Healesville Community Garden was developed with a focus on edible plants and designed to be accessible to a range of community members, with private and group plots. The garden aims to increase social inclusion and to promote access to healthy food.
The community garden was developed by a steering group consisting of a range of partners. Many issues were worked through, including finding a suitable location, developing protocols, seeking funding, building the infrastructure, promoting the garden to the community and achieving sustainability.
The garden is now a vibrant community hub and a range of foods are grown, harvested and eaten by the local community.
