Lilydale Art & Sole and Dandenong Creek Art Trail projects
Art & Sole and their sister project Dandenong Creek Art Trail, aim to foster a deep sense of connection to place, nature and community through using the cultural aspirations and values of First Nations Peoples (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples), whilst also weaving in and celebrating the perspectives and values of contemporary multicultural communities.
Art & Sole aims to improve the health and wellbeing of the community by increasing walking and play in Lilydale, through the installation of artwork and storytelling. During the planning of Art & Sole, the Lilydale community were consulted and residents said they would like to see Indigenous artworks and elements of culture included in the project.
In June 2020, expressions of interest were sought from Aboriginal creatives living on Wurundjeri and Bunurong Country for multiple opportunities for creative projects across the two art trails. The project expects to go live in early 2022.
