Our Club - Engagement Survey 2020

Building strong and connected communities is important for everyone.

Local footy clubs provide an opportunity to:

  • bring people together,
  • increase participation in sport,
  • promote social connection and
  • create a sense of belonging.

Research tells us that all these elements protect children, young people and adults from social isolation, alcohol and other drug use and poor mental/physical health.

The 'Our Club': A Place for Everyone initiative undertook a Club Engagement Survey in June 2020 to find out how Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) clubs are keeping members, supporters and the community connected whilst football was on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions being in place.

We wanted to celebrate and promote the amazing work that clubs have done during this time and wish to thank the clubs who have shared their experiences with us in keeping their communities connected.

Organisations: The 'Our Club' project is proudly sponsored by the Eastern Action on Alcohol Flagship Group. The initiative has been funded by The Australian Drug Foundation Local Drug Action Team program in partnership with the Outer East Primary Care Partnership (OEPCP*).

The Campaign ran across the local government areas of Maroondah, Knox, Yarra Ranges, Monash, Manningham, Boroondara and Whitehorse. The full initiative was postponed to the 2021 season, however the campaign was adapted to celebrate the role Clubs have played in 2020.
