Pharmaceutical Mapping Report
Women’s Health In the North is delighted to share the results of our pharmaceutical mapping project!
This report maps availability of sexual and reproductive health pharmaceuticals across Melbourne’s northern metropolitan region (NMR), identifying gaps in coverage and the reasons for these.
The aims were:
- To identify which areas in the NMR of Melbourne are under-serviced for sexual and reproductive health pharmaceuticals.
- To create a baseline for future work and discussion about accessibility to sexual and reproductive health pharmaceuticals in the NMR of Melbourne.
Of the pharmacies who responded to the survey, only 14% said they stocked medical termination of pregnancy medication, and many respondents indicated that they didn’t think that sexual and reproductive health was part of their responsibilities.
The reproductive rights of women and gender-diverse people in the NMR are not only impacted by the limited number of clinics providing sexual and reproductive health services, but also by the lack of available sexual and reproductive health pharmaceuticals.
