Maroondah Hoarding and Squalor Network (MHSN)

The Maroondah Hoarding and Squalor Network (MHSN) is a forum that has been developed for local agencies and community groups confronted with hoarding and squalor issues, to come together, develop relationships, share skills and knowledge and establish positive collaborative outcomes for our community.

The network is underpinned by a ‘No Wrong Doors’ approach in order to assist each other and our community through complex issues. This approach ensures that all organisations are committed to facilitating a referral to a more appropriate agency in the event that they believe they are not the best agency to assist the situation.

The Network is open to Emergency Service agencies, community groups, housing and health care services, Local and State Government Departments, the education sector and any other agency that experiences hoarding and/or squalor as part of their routine business.

MHSN & the Outer East PCP

Partnering with the Outer East PCP, the MHSN is extending the network beyond Maroondah boundaries to include Yarra Ranges Council and Knox City Council. This will assist the network to promote their work further and look at opportunities to extend their partnership. It will also give MHSN the opportunity to deliver forums to individuals, family members and community members who are affected by hoarding.

Organisations partnering with MHSN include:

  • Ambulance Victoria
  • Country Fire Authority (CFA)
  • Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS)
  • Eastern Health
  • Maroondah City Council
  • Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board (MFB)
  • Neami National
  • Outer East Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS)
  • SalvoCare Eastern
  • Uniting Harrison
  • Victoria Police (VicPol)
  • Victoria State Emergency Service (SES)
