Young Women’s Creative Writing Program

Delivered in partnership with Creative Write-It, the Migrant Information Centre (Eastern Melbourne) worked with seven young women from a refugee background who live in the outer eastern region of Melbourne to harness their creative voices, explore the power of language, and develop their writing skills.

Through fun and interactive writing, story-telling and group work activities, participants were able to explore the areas of character, world building and structure that make a story interesting and unique. After eight weeks of the program, the products of seven short fictional stories written by the refugee young women were published in a book titled ‘Blib Blib Blop Blop: In this boat together’. This book is now available for purchase by contacting the Migrant Information Centre (Eastern Melbourne).
