Smiles 4 Miles - Chin community keeping good oral health

Smiles 4 Miles is an oral health promotion program (an initiative of Dental Health Services Victoria) that works to improve the oral health of children, their families and the wider community.

The Smiles 4 Miles key messages – Drink Well, Eat Well and Clean Well, were delivered in the Migrant Information Centre’s Chin Zomi playgroup Zoom sessions recently.

Oral Health Therapists from EACH presented on the importance of choosing tap water over sweet and sugary drinks and eating a healthy well-balanced diet that is free from excess sugars and salts.

They also demonstrated correct brushing techniques and shared tips and tricks on how to assist parents in making brushing enjoyable for everyone.

Feedback from the Migrant Information Centre and families is that they found the sessions valuable, ensuring that they continue good oral health habits.
