Young & Queer In Melbourne's East

Young & Queer In Melbourne's East from Women's Health East explores the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs and experiences of LGBTIQ young women between the ages of 15 and 25 years within the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne (EMR).

The project objectives were:

  • to better understand the SRH health needs of LGBTIQ young women in the EMR.
  • explore the lived experience of LGBTIQ young women accessing SRH services, and
  • explore issues of equity and inclusion and the unique barriers faced by LGBTIQ young women.

Recommendations for health service providers and the Victorian Government are provided to enable integration of the findings into programming, planning and policy for SRH services and education for LGBTIQ young women.
