Language Matters - guide for AOD workers

Language is powerful - especially when discussing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) and the people who use them. This downloadable guide provides AOD workers with best-practice guidelines on how to use language to empower clients and reinforce a person-centred approach.

Language Matters is a two page guide giving best practice alternatives to commonly used phrases in the AOD sector. This is useful for anyone interested in using language that is inclusive and non-stigmatising. Developed by the Network of Alcohol and Other Drugs Agencies (NADA), AOD workers and people who use drugs.
